About 7 years ago, I developed a software application that I called ‘The Interpeater’. The project basically allowed a person to configure their PC as a voice gateway between a local two way radio and another two way radio any where in the world with both audio and control data being streamed over the internet in real-time. The connection technology uses VOIP for the audio and a proprietary control protocol for the radio’s.
About 5 years ago, I removed the software from my website since I did not have the time to maintain it.
After I posted the radio hardware interface and the LCD portions of the project on my website about 4 months ago, I started seeing daily google searches of people who are looking to interface their FRS radio with VOIP. So, due to popular demand, I am currently updating the Interpeater software with some new features and documentation. I will re-release this software as soon as I can.
If you are interested in being able to use this software, please leave a comment so that I can judge how many folks are interested.

Thanks for the feedback Jay. The first thing that you will want to do is have your radio(s) set up such that:
For an example circuit, please see: PC FRS radio control
I am still adding new features, updating the documentation and working out the licensing details. I will provide updates on this page as progress is made.
